All of these stories we get from China speak of incredible virtue in the common people. If there is one thought that should be had by each of us everyday, it is to strive to this kind of virtue. Li Shi Mian may have nearly died, but his virtuous actions counted for much more, and truly did the job of blessing his life. Thank you Donna for this wonderful contribution.

This is a new kind of story for ATW. Here we get an insight into how they wrote about such things as nuns and monks. This Saint certainly has a beautifully pure background, but its the thing she does with a flame that really let us see her purity. This Arabic tale is good listening. I especially like the lengths that were made to find the truth of the situation. Many of our tales speak of the great virtues displayed by the noble men and women of the time. How great it would be to have such noble men and women taking the high positions of our societies now days. I hope our children can be brought up on these tales so that they may take such positions in the future. Thank you Patrick for this tale.

Kindness can be seen to have many levels and layers. We feel that kindness is doing this, or not doing that. But when it comes to the profound reaches of this word, some people can reach it. Most can’t. This story again gives a spectrum of meaning that will show differently for different people. Kindness though is most certainly a powerful virtue at any level. How simply it can be illustrated that bad manners and a lack of self reflection can bring loss and then more loss. Lets hope these little otters took away some lessons in these regards. Thanks Chris for this little ditty.

When we hear things of true cultivation they can seem a little hard to understand. We love to think that monks must have such a wonderful life, but in reality it is a very difficult and righteous path. This story from Chris, one of our new Gold Pass narrators, really helps us to have some insight into monkhood and the realm of Arhat. Enjoy our ATW contribution.
